A Christian's Identity - John 13:33-35

Are Christians identified by how anointed they are, or how good they can preach or stay in tune with the organ? Are they identified by what they drive or how big their homes are? What about how much money they have or their circle of associates? Church size, quantity of membership, size of wardrobe?

It's sad to say the most dominant theme that identifies a Christian in today's society is the abundance of materialism. Some have the mindset of the more an individual has the more saved they are.
Countless people including those identified as being Christians have "Stuff" but lack the attributes of the King. Love, being one of the greatest attributes of the King is missing from the life of the Christian. If we wish to truly represent Christ as believers we must strive to love one another! As a Christian we must organically express the love of our Lord at all times.

After a briefing with his disciples about going to a place they themselves cannot go, Jesus gives them a new commandment; that is to love one another as he has loved them. He goes on to say "by this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another." "BY THIS!" One of the greatest things that identify us as Christians is our love! By looking into one of the last teachings of Jesus, loving one another as he has loved us will place us in a different class than others and the world would be able to identify us by the way we love each other! Unfortunately, we have exchanged God's agenda and kingdom perspective to appease to that of our own purpose.

Love should become such a crucial part of who we are as Christians:
1. Love does no harm to his neighbor- Romans 13:10
2. Love honors another above yourself- Romans 12:10
3. Love is patient, kind, doesn't envy, doesn't boast, isn't proud, doesn't dishonor others, not self-seeking ,not easily angered, keeps no records of wrongs, doesn't delight in evil but rejoices with the truth, always protects always trusts, hopes, and perseveres, love never fails! 1 Corinthians 13:4-8
