Rachel was beautiful, Rachel was favored, Rachel was preferred, but Rachel was barren! Have you ever felt as if you had so many great things going for you, however that one thing that seemed to be going against you carried the most weight in your life? If your answer is yes, you should have an awareness of how Rachel felt. The very thing that she desired above beauty was a lively fertile womb. That's life! There are some that have the corporate job, living in the suburbs, driving the luxury automobiles but have an immobilized child. On the reverse there are those with healthy children but struggling to attain a minimum wage paying job and are living underneath a bridge or an overly crowded parched shelter.
Rachel couldn't produce any children for her husband. She gave Jacob beauty and intimacy but no child. Jacob's children begin to come into fruition but unfortunately not through the one he preferred! Leah, Bilhah, and Zilpah all had a fertile womb and were able to produce offspring for Jacob. Seven with Leah, two with Bilhah and two with Zilpah. That's eleven children outside of the wife he preferred most! If each pregnancy was full term, that would be 9 months x's 11 which equals 99 months of waiting for Rachel. She had to watch three other women give birth season after season. This no doubt had to be mentally challenging for Rachel. She had to feel forgotten.
This is what we are confronted with throughout seasons of our life; the "forgotten season" that we experience! We witness, as did Rachel, others giving birth to dreams, leaders that pastor flourishing ministries, others walking down the aisle to be married, etc. It seems as though you are standing on the sideline cheering while others score touchdowns. But wait! Genesis 30:22-23 "And God remembered Rachel, and God hearkened to her, and opened her womb. And she conceived, and bare a son; and said, God hath taken away my reproach:"
The word of the Lord to you today is God has not forgot about you! God remembered Rachel and he will remember you! Rachel gives birth and so will you! God will cancel your feelings of reproach!
"Before pregnancy takes place in your life, it first takes place in the mind of God!"
